Content: I have successfully built Hugo for Windows 7 using a modified Go 1.25 toolchain that restores the missing syscalls in legacy Windows. This allows Win7 users to enjoy the latest Hugo features without being stuck on Go 1.20.

If the proposal is that we should maintain our own Go version to support Win7 think the answer would be no, we don't have the capacity to do that.

Unofficial releases usually mean less frequent with updates and more likely to have unpatched vulnerabilities. Unless the official Go compiler bring back Windows 7 support (which is unlikely), I don't think Hugo will bring back Windows 7 support anytime soon (which is even more unlikely).

Appreciate your work though, maybe you can continue maintain your Windows 7 compatible fork?
