When Cabal/cabal-install says something like

cabal: 'parseField' called on a non-field. Consider this a bug.

it's not immediately clear that it is a bug in Cabal, as opposed to a bug in the .cabal file.

Perhaps "Consider this a bug in Cabal." would be better, but better still would be instructions on how/where to report it too.

I agree. Care to whip up a patch? Perhaps we could create a helper function we call in all such cases and that helper function would output bug-filing instructions.

Reopening since I didn't add instructions on how to report the bug.

Looking at the usage of bug, it looks like it's used to signal both bugs in Cabal and user errors; I decided to revert my fix for now.
