Geolocation not working without google play services

I have read the issues about geolocation not working without google play services and as I understood with ionic-team/capacitor-plugins#731 , the plugin was using the native android api wich was not accurate enough and therefore the plugin switched to the google play api.

However, many android devices don't have google play services installed (not the majority but quite some). It would be nice to have a way to use the native api if the google play services are not available. Is there a reason why only the google play services are used and not the native api as a fallback ?

Does anyone know if this is being worked on ? I don't have much java experience but it seems to me like it shouldn't be very difficult to make the geolocation api (native or play services) choosable, considering that both codes have already been written. I'm aware that there are more important things to work on, but is there anyone who saw my issue at least ?

If someone is willing to give me a few guidelines, I'd be happy to figure it out and to create a PR !
