As a developer, I’m constantly spinning up local servers and just as constantly forgetting which ports are in use — and I definitely never remember the exact lsof or kill commands when something breaks. Existing tools felt either too heavy or not intuitive for this simple use case. Port Smith fixes that by giving a clean, fast, menu bar interface that lets me see which ports are busy and kill processes instantly. It removes the daily friction of debugging port conflicts and saves real time for anyone who builds locally on macOS.
