Support for #+INCLUDE directives in org mode?

Hi! I'm using pandoc to convert some Org mode files, but I've noticed that #+INCLUDE: directives don't seem to be recognized. For example, if I have:
main.org

#+TITLE: main file

* content
Here is a file with content:
#+INCLUDE: ./file.org

and file.org

foobar

and I run pandoc main.org -s -t latex or pandoc main.org --pdf-engine tectonic -o main.pdf
the content of file.org does not appear in the Latex output or the PDF file.

Is there something I'm missing, or some workaround I can use? My usecase is that I'm writing a story, and it's convenient to have the chapters in their own org files. Thanks in advance!

Pandoc currently expects the filename to be enclosed in double quotes. Try this:

#+INCLUDE: "./file.org"

I'm not sure why that's the case though. I tried it in Emacs, and the quotes seem to be optional. So please feel free to raise a bug for this.

Huh interesting, I'm using Helix to edit the file and running pandoc from the commandline, could that have something to do with it?
