PS4 DS emulation

Sony have stopped making new PS4 controllers. They are getting hard to find. I can get third party ones but the quality is poor.

It would be fantastic if this could allow people to get PS5 controllers and use them with the PS4. Or even other controllers as the touchpad and gyros are so infrequently used in PS4 titles anyway.

And before anyone says anything, no USB HID/XInput controllers don't work on a PS4 outside of some flight sticks.

This is possible with the USB2USB or BT2USB Joypad OS firmwares. But the PS4 output mode does need a little bit of work so that it can support proper authentication passthrough like projects like GP2040-CE support. I did start this effort at one point but didn't get it fully working with auth. The PS5 controller can act as a PS4 controllers for up to 8 minutes at a time on a PS4 or PS5 console. Once I get authentication working, a simple low cost auth dongle or an authentic PS4 controller could be used with a USB hub to handle authentication checks, while PS5 controller passes through buttons/analogs.

I'm assuming the auth is some kind of awful certificate based thing. Is there anyway we can dump the needed firmware from a PS4 controller? There are third party controllers now so perhaps that might be another avenue for getting auth functional.
