External update

This is much closer to what I was looking for v.v. streamdeck-ui. The toggle function is quite useful. However, sometimes (i.e. mute) can be frobed from outside of snakedeck.

It would be useful to include a script or some form of call that allows an external tool to update the current state (i.e. something just muted a mic).

What I see is maybe identifying each entry in a R/C entry and then have a script that runs and outputs the id of the entry. That way, the streamdeck stays in sync with the system.

The ask isn't for the script, but for the tooling in snakedeck

Yes, that would definitely be helpful. What would be the best solution, you think? Some kind of (maybe HTTP) API allowing to update the state from outside (with e.g. curl)? Or some way for snakedeck to watch over something outside (unsure exactly how)?

streamdeckfs seems more complete than snakedeck; also a bit more complex. Maybe you know about it, but I thought I'd mention it in case it fits your needs better!

Since what this world needs is more choice (:sob:) I found this project a while back and as a learning exercise myself for python Asyncio I want and created/"forked" https://github.com/ashb/asnakedeck.

The way I handle mute state there is by using a pulse audio client https://github.com/ashb/asnakedeck/blob/e012ecc/asnakedeck/platform/linux.py#L75-L134 via the pulsectl-asyncio dist.

Oooo that's awesome!

I ended up implementing a (very hackish) sync of pulseaudio state to snakedeck, basically by polling regularly the state.

Something async looks WAY better! I'll take a look and see if I could adopt your code :)
