Hey John!

Just saw that you launched this and wanted to say how happy I am to see it! I think this is absolutely a missing building block in the community right now and I'm super happy to see this. I hope they can get you on for an episode of the show @craiglabenz does on YouTube to launch it properly to the community.

Listen, I just wanted to ask a quick question regarding the various standards and specifications out there for authentication to see what if anything this project was aligned with or actively implementing. One rather specific thing I was hoping to see in the server side Dart community was WebAuthN (Specification Docs) and was curious to see if that was a path you had any interest in going down at all.

Either way, thanks for much for putting this out there, it's a valuable addition and I am looking forward to taking it for a test run soon!

WebAuthn

I'm going to have to give that a read through - but I'm directionally aligned with having support. I don't know what the complexities that brings (since I have yet to read it) or if I could make that work across platforms other than just Web.

I'm planning on writing a history doc of why I wrote this package. I wrote all the JWT/JWE stuff years ago for my own projects and got tired of copy-pasta between them.

The specification document is dense and covers a lot of ground that I don't think is actually relevant for this. The key part as far as I can tell is this one: WebAuthn Relying Party Operations

Most of it seemed relatively straightforward as I have had it explained to me in the past but one slightly different / unusual thing is that I believe it requires working with CBOR for data serialization. There is a decent looking package for that here https://pub.dev/packages/cbor

Either way, thanks for putting this out there, like I said I think it's a really valuable contribution to the community!
