Airpod 4 ANC Case Detected as 0 Battery on Arch Linux

When connecting to AirPod 4 ANC, I see

Battery status:  "Left: 74%, Right: 73%, Case: 0%" 

and the tray icon also reports the case has 0 charge.
However, my iPad reports the case has full charge (the earbuds themselves seem to report the correct charge level).

I have tried disconnecting my AirPods and reconnecting them, as well as restarting the application to no avail.

If it helps, when starting, I get the following metadata:

airpodsApp:  Connecting to device:  "AirPods"

@kiritofeng could you try putting them in case? The case battery is only reported if at least one bud is in case.

Can you please run the app with the --debug argument and share the logs here?

Note: The case battery is only shown when at least 1 pod is in the case. Also, it sometimes takes some time for it to report

It seems to correctly report the battery when at least one Airpod is in the case.

Is there an option to have the case report the battery without putting at least one earbud in the case?
From a technical standpoint, this seems like it may be feasible (as iOS can report the case's charge), and from a usability standpoint, it might be useful to know how much charge the case has left without having to put an earbud back.

This is not possible because this iPadOS and iOS use the Find My protocol to get information about the case when it is not “connected” normally by the buds. And, it's not possible because iPadOS/iOS somehow authenticate with the case as “owner” which allows it to play sound from case to find, toggle case charging sounds and optimized charging etc.
