Trouble using lookup_invoice

Hello, I am having trouble understanding how to use the lookup_invoice function. I want to feed it a payment hash as input. It seems like I need to encode the hash into bytes though? Can you please share code or any thing that can help me what the proper input is?

Or am I supposed to feed it the r_hash? Because that is also not working for me.
