The desktop manager is autostarted only in LXQt. Most desktop environments have their own desktop manager, therefore showing "Desktop" entry in their application launchers is confusing.

This makes sense to me, but let's wait for the 2.3 release for now.

I think we had a discussion about it before, but I don't remember where.

In short, pcmanfm-qt's desktop can be used anywhere. In particular, it can be used with any Wayland compositor and without an LXQt session. Limiting it to LXQt doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

If users want to use the pcmanfm-qt's desktop outside of LXQt, they will already need to modify/override the autostart file, or use the autostart mechanism provided by Xorg or Wayland compositor. This is just an additional step for users with a custom session to customize/override the desktop settings launcher to suit their needs. However, the desktop settings can also be accessed via the right-click menu.

I think it's more confusing to see the launcher for the pcmanfm-qt's desktop preferences in GNOME Shell or KDE Plasma, where the desktop manager cannot be even replaced.
