Virtual environment not activated in new terminal for Zsh

Behaviour

Expected vs. Actual

Terminal should run .../bin/activate as first command when opened, but no longer does and virtual environment is not actually active in terminal.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open workspace where virtualenv/pipenv is to be used.
2. Open new terminal.
3. Terminal automatically runs .../bin/activate command for environment (this no longer happens)

Diagnostic data

• Python version (& distribution if applicable, e.g. Anaconda): 3.11.4
• Type of virtual environment used (e.g. conda, venv, virtualenv, etc.): PipEnv
• Value of the python.languageServer setting: Default

I'm having the same issue with Zsh and Zsh for Humans. It used to work before, but yesterday I noticed it stopped working. If I switch my terminal to Bash it works again, so I'm guessing this has to do with Zsh or Zsh for Humans.

A very similar thing started happening to me on Windows. I got a pop-up pointing me to this page: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-python/wiki/Activate-Environments-in-Terminal-Using-Environment-Variables
And in the terminal tab info it does say Python: Activated environment for .\.venv\Scripts\python.exe
But the environment is not active.

A fix was recently merged in yesterday: #22872, and I wonder if that is the cause due to which pre-release is not working.
