install_spm12.sh fails to install the mcr (matlab compiler runtime)

On a fresh Ubuntu 18.04 install, running install_spm12.sh yields the following error:

"No Java Runtime Environment(JRE) was found on this system."

This is when it tries to execute

 ./MCRInstaller.bin -P bean421.installLocation="mcr" 

/Note that/usr/bin/java exists (package default-jre is installed)

I faced the same issue. It works with a 32bit MCR:

wget -N -r -l1 --no-parent -nd  -P $SPM_ROOT_DIR -A.bin http://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm/download/restricted/utopia/MCR/glnx86

No. I can install MCR/glnx86 as JR King suggested, but then, under Ubuntu 19.04, I get: /home/cp983411/opt/spm12/spm12/spm12_glnxa64: error while loading shared libraries: libmwmclmcrrt.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
