profile.json doesn't respect find parameters? #8075

Describe the bug
"site/api/v1/profile.json?find[created_at][$gte]=2011-11-25&find[created_at][$lte]=2012-03-20&count=10" should be empty but instead has recent profile data (with created_at dates outside the range requested.)

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to site/api/v1/profile.json?find[created_at][$gte]=2011-11-25&find[created_at][$lte]=2012-03-20&count=10
2. see profile records with created_at dates more recent than 2012-03-20

Expected behavior
profile records returned should all have created_at dates within the find parameters

Your setup information
happens on both 14.2.6 and dev branch 15.0 from a week ago (6-august-2023)
using chrome browser
