Unable to Reapply for GitHub Education – Already Rejected, Now Blocked by Outstanding Request Error

Hi GitHub Education team,

I'm reaching out regarding an issue I'm currently facing while trying to reapply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

I initially submitted my application but was unfortunately denied. I believe the rejection might have been due to the uploaded student ID being unclear.

After preparing new documents, I attempted to reapply, but I now receive the following error:

“There was an error creating the discount request. Errors: Discount request could not be created. Discount request errors: Hi, (my name)! You were last verified as a student on . It is not necessary for you to re-verify at this time. You have an outstanding discount request for @mistedsait. We will get back to you soon.”

It seems the system still believes my application is under review, even though all of my previous applications were marked as Denied. This is preventing me from submitting a new application with the correct documents.

I also sent an email to GitHub Support about this issue over a week ago but have not received any response.

Could someone please help me resolve this so I can reapply successfully?

Try those follow these steps:

1. Wait for outstanding requests to resolve: The error message indicates that there is still an active or pending application (discount request) associated with your account. Even if your previous applications are marked as Denied, sometimes the system may not have fully processed or closed your last request. This can temporarily prevent you from submitting a new application.

2. Check your application status: Visit your Education benefits page while signed in. If there's an application still shown as pending or under review, you will not be able to submit a new one until it is fully resolved or closed.

3. Troubleshooting denied applications: If your application was denied due to unclear documents, you should be able to reapply once the previous application is fully closed. GitHub recommends making sure your documents clearly show your academic status and at least one date (e.g., on your student ID or transcript).

GitHub Support helped me out. It took them about a week or two to reply, but they reset my application for me. Once that was done, I reapplied and was accepted almost immediately.

My Academic status is approved. You can see in the screenshot below. First it was rejected and now it is approved. [image: image.png] There is another way to do that without taking help of support. When you told me to reach out ot the support team. I was trying to open a ticket there. During that this field: [image: image.png] I was unable to select this field because they have a rule that we cant contact them if we want to see the status. They give me a internal link where i can see my status when i open that link the link ther interface was new and they told me to enter your student id proof i enter that and got verified in minutes. I though that i should share my experience with you. Is there anything you like to say here?
