Copilot Student Pack Premium Limit — Request for Clarification

Hi everyone,

Hello GitHub Education Team,

I am a verified student using the GitHub Student Developer Pack. Recently, I noticed that GitHub Copilot Pro now enforces a limit of 300 premium requests per month, even for student accounts. This is frustrating because:

• Previously, Copilot Pro under the Student Pack had no such restriction.
• Students often rely on Copilot for learning, debugging, and improving coding skills — which requires frequent use of chat and agent features.
• The Student Pack is promoted as providing free Copilot Pro, but the new restriction significantly reduces the benefit compared to what was originally offered.

Could you please clarify:

1. Why was this change introduced without a clear notice to Student Pack users?
2. Is there any plan to increase or remove this limit for students, since affordability is the main reason behind the Student Pack?
3. Can students request an increase in the premium request quota for academic purposes?

I hope GitHub will consider maintaining fair access for students. Copilot has been an incredible tool for education, and these limits make it difficult to use for learning.

Copilot PRO plan is limited to a maximum of 300 premium requests per month (additional at $0.04 USD each), regardless of whether it's a paid plan or the Student Developer Pack benefits plan.

@MdWahiduzzamanEmon they don't have to unless they use more than 300 premium req/month. Also, the request limits have been increased, now each copilot agent mode message consumes only 1 premium req (times the multiplier) and each copilot coding agent session only consumes 1 premium req regardless of how many actual requests were sent along the way. Plus, 4o and 4.1 are both always infinite (except that coding agent always uses a specific model that has 1x multiplier)
