How can I verify my education account? #195200

It seemslike you’re already doing the standard requirements correctly, so the rejection is probably happening because the verification system cannot confidently confirm your current faculty status, especially if your school’s email domain is not fully trusted or if the uploaded document does not clearly show a current validity date. This is a common issue with GitHub Education applications, even for teachers who were approved in previous years. A few things that often help:
You can reapply through: GitHub Education Teacher Application And the official troubleshooting page is here |

That honestly sounds really frustrating, especially since you were approved before and already seem to be doing everything they normally ask for. If your billing name matches your teacher ID, you’re using a school email, enabled 2FA, and even uploaded verification documents, then it honestly sounds more like the verification system is failing rather than something you’re doing wrong. One thing I’ve noticed with a lot of these automated approval systems is that they can be really inconsistent with international schools or non-US institutions, even when everything is legitimate. Sometimes the rejection is completely automated and there’s no clear explanation given. Since you were successfully approved a few years ago, that also makes it even stranger. It could honestly be:
At this point I’d probably try contacting support directly instead of reapplying repeatedly. You already meet more requirements than most applicants do. It definitely doesn’t sound like you’re missing something obvious. |

Hello, how can I contact customer support? Are there any ways to get in
touch with them? Thank you.

Since you were successfully approved a few years ago, that also makes it

- stricter verification rules this year
- automated AI verification failing on the ID photo
- mismatch in document formatting/language
- the system not recognizing the school properly anymore
At this point I’d probably try contacting support directly instead of
reapplying repeatedly. You already meet more requirements than most

Hey @jamesmct-smvhs — I read through everything. This is frustrating, especially since you were approved before. Why this is happeningYou are not doing anything wrong. The verification system has gotten stricter, especially for non-US schools. It often fails on teacher IDs from Taiwan because of language or format mismatches. What actually works (from teachers who fixed this)1. Stop reapplying through the normal form — you will keep getting the same automated rejection. 2. Contact support directly with a real person ticket: Go here: https://support.github.com/contact/education Select "I am a teacher having trouble verifying my educator status" Copy and paste this:
3. Attach these to your ticket:
Bottom lineThe automated system is failing you. A human at GitHub Support can override it. Do not reapply again — just open that ticket and wait 3-5 days. You will get approved. Just needs a human to look at it. |

Hey @steeltoes-and-code — I see the screenshot. You are right, GitHub no longer takes tickets for manual reviews. Since the automated system is rejecting you, here is what actually works:
You did nothing wrong. The system just got stricter. Keep reapplying with cleaner documents. That is the only way now. |

Hi everyone,
I am a high school teacher in the Department of Data Processing in Taiwan. The name on my billing information matches the name on my teacher ID. I have also enabled two-factor authentication, use a .edu Gmail account, and uploaded a photo of my teacher ID. Why is my application still being rejected?
I successfully applied about three years ago, but this year I have not been able to get approved at all.
