Of course, but making this compile on Windows is a path towards making it more generic and functional across other systems. It also needs tests, needs to keep the socket alive between requests, recover from the server closing the socket, etc. it's a long path, but it starts with the basics.

That code is not ready for windows. One solution would be to shift all network initialization to the curllib library which works on most platforms.
