Make the Lima display more similar to the one for Podman Machine #15250

Description

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe

The Podman Machine display has some features, not available for Lima (Linux Machines)

Currently one has to use the Command Line, to access limactl list and limactl shell.

There is an old bug in Podman Desktop, that shows provider version as connection version:

The provider just shows the version of the administration tool, like podman machine or docker-machine.

Eventually we would like to show the Podman version or the Docker version, for each connection...

Currently it is showing the client version instead, which is probably better off with the other CLI tools?

Describe the solution you'd like

  • Show the version of the Lima provider
  • Show the link to the Lima homepage
  • Show resources for the Lima instance
  • Show terminal for the Lima instance

Describe alternatives you've considered

No response

Additional context

It is still not possible to manage Lima instances (machines) from the Podman Desktop interface.

Only one instance can be accessed from the app at a time, and if it is stopped it just "disappears".

Instances have to be created and started from the Command Line, as show in the documentation.

There is no live resource monitoring of the instances, then again that is broken for Podman too...
