Hard links not working on linux EXT4 Storage?

I use Fedora 43, I have a osu! (stable) install on EXT4 storage located at /mnt/hdd2/osu, I recently decided to try lazer, but hard links are simply not working despite lazer being installed on the same drive (at /mnt/hdd2/osulazer), I tried running the AppImage directly, extracting and then launching AppRun, but neither worked as during the setup, osu!lazer gives me the message that it will copy files as I am aparently not using a filesystem that supports hard links/not being on the same drive, when I am
I did try making a hard link by myself using the ln command, which worked perfectly fine, so it's not a filesystem issue

I just tried and it works fine for me.

Note that what matters is not where you install lazer, but where the lazer data folder is (you can change it by the "change folder location" button in settings).

Lazer doesn't store it's data in the same folder as the executable? Why so?

I don't see any reason why it should be like that. And by separating the data folder it's more convenient to move the data to a larger disk, share data between different PCs, etc. In many cases the install folder is kinda "fixed" (linux appimage is an exception) and cannot be easily moved.

could be nice to add a warning about this, i wasted a good 2h figuring out how to do this, but well it looks like i am a 1 in a billion case
