Context: SageMath uses a combination of autoconf and pytest, and autoconf deletes conftest.py. (See sagemath/sage#39357 for more details)

Given how a factual statement of current pytest capabilities and a relatively lighthearted dig at autoconf got escalated, im not available for any future conversation or implementation

Given the communication style here and on other venues it it's not far-fetched to consider this as an attempt to weaponize the coc against someone not doing what you want.

As I'm that someone, I'll leave assessment to @The-Compiler and @nicoddemus

@RonnyPfannschmidt As a maintainer, you have the ability to handle this whole thing by deleting irrelevant conversation.

Really, the situation is simple:

1. @dimpase had a grumpy mood because of having to find the frustrating SageMath bug the day before, thus misinterpret your lighthearted comment as "trolling" and snapped.
2. somehow @thesamesam misinterpret the relatively harmless comment of "discuss on Python discourse" as threatening and snap again.
3. oops

We're all software developers and know how frustrating it is to debug something for a whole day. In that mood, it is easy to misunderstand intentions.

dimpase already apologized for that. I see no reason to talk about things like "attempt to weaponize the CoC" here and just delete the off-topic comments.

(also I kind of feel bad for @eli-schwartz for having to write a whole 7-paragraph response to the situation instead of e.g. fixing bugs. I find the latter activity more enjoyable)
