qBittorrent process doesn't exit when the window is closed

On FreeBSD 12 I run qbittorrent-4.1.7 in jail.

It works fine, but in the end it doesn't exit when the window is closed.

It is mostly in select and uwait state:

What command/mechanism do you use to start qBittorrent in your environment? Are you running qBittorrent with a GUI or headless?

The qbittorrent command, it is run with UI.

This has been a persistent issue with qBittorrent for me for years. It's easily my favorite torrent client, but qBittorrent has singlehandedly made me change my habits to force-shutdown my desktop because otherwise qBittorrent will always indefinitely stall my shutdown, perpetually "Saving torrent progress."

I'm on Windows, using qBittorrent v4.1.7 (64-bit) with the GUI, set to autostart with Windows.

My client is set to minimize to the tray even when I click the 'X' button on the client window, so I'm aware that in my case the process should not end upon closing the GUI. The issue is that the process continues running even after I "Exit" qBittorrent via right-clicking the tray icon. If I want to restart the program after exiting this way, then I must first end the qbittorrent.exe process manually in Task Manager.

I assume this is the reason qBittorrent indefinitely stalls my computer shutting down. qBittorrent, I imagine, receives the same exit command from the OS upon shutdown that it does from the "Exit" button in the tray icon right-click menu, but the process keeps running anyway, perpetually "Saving torrent progress" even though I never lose torrent progress when shutting down with the -force argument.

This has been true for me on all of the qBittorrent clients I've had installed on many different desktops and laptops running Windows 8.1 and 10, even with qBittorrent running on unmodified, stock settings.

On FreeBSD I only observe this when qBittorrent runs out of a container, and not during regular run on a desktop system.

Windows 7 here, qBittorrent is leaving a zombie process when I try to exit. I just can't kill it, only if I restart the PC. And of course when I try to run another instance of the program, it doesn't work.

Based on other people's input this seems to be a major flaw in qBittorrent.

On FreeBSD it only hangs when run out of a container (jail), and not when run normally.
