Make page sections collapsible

Hi,

it would be nice if the main cells in the stac browser (collections, metadata, ...) could be collapsible or even hideable if there is no child in it.
E.g. this collection does not have items - still the item section takes a third of the screen.

Also, there are cases where "metadata" is very long which requires users to scroll down forever to get to assets.

Would that be possible?

That's the "beauty" of developing a generic tool for any kind of input. You newer know what you can expect. The current solution is a compromise of many different tests and catalogs. We can't make it ideal for everyone, unfortunately. Your examples are two cases which are not very common, so optimizing for it doesn't make a lot of sense in the generic implementation. You could of course customize STAC Browser for your usecase.

For your first example, your server advertises that there could be items through the "items" link. If you don't want the items to be shown, you should consider removing the link. That tells the client that there are no link. We could also consider hiding the Items in certain cases, but for other users it might also be confusing at this level as they would usually expect items there. Having catalogs showing at that level is very uncommon, thus the browser is not optimized for it.

For your second example, there's a lot of "non-STAC" metadata in the metadata, which shouldn't there be in the first place, I'd say.

We could consider making headers and their subsequent sections collapsible in a future version. That would probably be a temporary thing a user could do and not be stored across page changes or configurable from the provider-side though. PRs are welcome.
