API UI: Unable to create resources

Setup

• Rancher version: v2.10.3

Describe the bug

• All resources

To Reproduce

• log in to rancher as admin
• nav to any resource in the api-ui, for example
  • /v1/pods
  • /v1/batch.cronjobs
  • /v1/management.cattle.io.globalroles
  • /v1/secrets

Result

• Modal shows, however warns This resource has no fields that can be set

Expected Result

• dynamically generated form

@richard-cox This is happening because resourceFields is being returned as null in our schemas. In API UI we do an early exit here https://github.com/rancher/api-ui/blob/master/src/HTMLApi.js#L1367

By any chance is this caused by schema diet? If so, are we going to fix this or just accept that we won't be editing via the api-ui?

I think we either need to

1. Disable / Remove the Create button (and release note)
2. Update the api ui to work with the new schemaDefinition endpoint (which fetches the resourceFields objects)

Will leave that one with Neil

I'll try switching to the new schemaDefinition and see where that takes me.

I did dig into this and I had some success:

You'll notice that none of the fields are editable. Previously the resourceFields that we received back from schemas looked like:

And they included the create/update props.

The new resourceDefinitions omit this information:

On top of that it seems that many of those fields do not have schemas (I didn't verify if that was the case in previous versions) so I could go to the schema to see if it had the relevant actions/links.

With that I vote for option 1. @nwmac it seems that Richard would like to deffer to you on that choice.
