Message list scrolls when new message received

Hello Roundcube,

may be it is feature more than bug, but for me and people in our company it is unexpected behaviour at least.

When I scroll down the message list, select one on the bottom, the message is displayed in the message view pane. After autorefresh the message list, when new message comes, the message list scrolls up automatically. The selected (and displayed) message remains still the same as before autorefresh, but users have to scroll down the list again in case i.e. they want to display another message in the conversation (they are using conversation list view).

Could you confirm this as a bug?

RC version 1.3.7 and 1.3.8, Firefox 63.0.3 and Opera 57.0.3098.91.

Confirmed. Related to #5912, but should be easier to fix.

Not that simple. Problem is that we replace the whole list element. So, we'd need to remember the scroll position before we call this.message_list.clear(false) and apply it back somewhere in this.update_selection().
This still will not be a perfect solution because 1. (I guess) the scroll position will jump, 2. there scroll position or the message position on the list after update may not be the same (think about removed/added messages).

This behavior still hit our company every day. I would really appreciate to move this up in priorities ...
