Version change: actions/checkout v6 → v7 (major)
Breaking changes: v7 blocks checking out fork PRs for pull_request_target and workflow_run events (actions/checkout#2454). Not applicable — this repo's workflows use only push, workflow_call, and workflow_dispatch triggers.
Security concerns: None. This is a first-party GitHub action. The v7 change is itself a security hardening against fork PR checkout attacks.
Impact on codebase: No affected patterns. The diff updates the checkout action reference in 4 workflow files (build-debug-image.yaml, build-image.yaml, e2e-tests.yaml, tests.yaml).
CI status: In progress at time of review — no failures.
Recommendation: SAFE TO MERGE
