Old Style: used font detection does not work correctly #35
I realized that the font detection does not work correctly for "Old Style". I'm using Firefox on Ubuntu. See the attached screenshot: The webpage claims to have loaded Palatino Linotype, but in fact P052 is used.
It's not a bug, it's a feature. When some popular font is missing it gets replaced with metric compatible substitute. That's the default linux/fontconfig configuration. So when Firefox asks for Palatino Linotype, it doesn't fail, because fontconfig treats P052 as the same font. Check out /etc/fonts/conf.d/30-metric-aliases.conf.
