Describe the bug

Thunderbird Send shows storage allocated even though upload was canceled

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Try to upload a 100MB file
  2. Close the brower tab where the file is uploading after about 40MB

Expected behavior

  1. Storage used doesn't increase after the file upload is canceled

Actual behavior

  1. Storage increases

"In that video, at very beginning, you may be able to see the Send Storage is zero bytes, and then, at 05:31, which is at the end of the test that I did, the Send Storage ended up being 13.3MB with no files in Thunderbird Send."

Ubuntu 24.0.4 LTS
Vivaldi based on Chrome 148

Additional context

  • Roland cannot reproduce this problem running the same version of ubuntu and vivaldi unfortunately!
  • Customer noticed this in Zendesk 6066
