Duplicates

Our editing tool will give you a warning if a game is already in the database. Duplicates (or ‘dupes’ as we call them) can come in many forms and sometimes take a while to notice. Here are a few examples:

An identical title: However, there can also be genuine cases where duplicates need to be accepted. For example, both DOOM 1993 and DOOM 2016 share the same name but are two different titles. In such a case it would be ok to bypass the warning and proceed with the edit.

A foreign title: For example, Ryuu Ga Gotoku would be a duplicate of Yakuza.

An alternate title: For example, SEGA Mega Drive Collection and SEGA Genesis Collection would be considered duplicates. Same for Jet Set Radio (EU title) and Jet Grind Radio (US title) etc.

It is worth noting that our warning will also take consideration of alternative titles.

If you do spot a dupe, let us know by getting in touch with us on Discord! We have a dedicated “database” channel where you can report them! If there is any doubt whether or not you’re unsure if a game should be added it’s always a good idea to check with the community.

When reporting a dupe, please send both of the links so we can check it out! When a dupe has been taken care of we will mark your message with a checkmark. If you don’t see such icon within a few days, please re-post the dupe!
