Description

I have been unable to log in to my account on nytimes/theathletic.com, this has been the case ever since I got the Chrome 144 update, (I have the Google Chrome Beta).

I've had no issues logging into my NyTimes Account, but The Athletic is simply refusing.

I am seeing a slightly different issue on Firefox. I can login fine, but the top bar etc. that use some websocket APIs seem to get blocked. So while I am "logged in" for the initial request, dynamic features (comments, authors I follow) seem to think I am logged out.

What's the symptom of not being able to log in? Is the web page showing an error? I do not have an account but when I entered fake user id/password, the page simply reported "The email address or password you entered is incorrect. Please try again." Is the breakage occurring before or after that?

It's after login. You can't access the comment section or your profile. Like @yathaid said, you are logged in, but some requests are being blocked that enable certain features.

Can you use the logger to find out which filter from which filter list is causing the issue?

We don't investigate custom filters. If your issue occurs only with your custom filters, you will have to investigate and fix the issue on your side.

Can't reproduce, I have no issue viewing comments or my profile logged-in with a subscribed account. Tested in new profile with vanilla uBo / Firefox 145 / macOS 14.7

May be a chrome or ubo lite issue specifically but I'm not able to test that at the moment

Sorry, I didn't read the issue well enough... yes, this filter from uBO filters - privacy broke the athletic on my side, it wouldn't show me as logged in or load the comments section as the original issue stated

After adding this to my filters I had no issues

I can no longer reproduce the issue. I have no custom/extra filters and was experiencing the issue yesterday, but today it is working fine. If it happens again I will capture logs.
