AWQ: Filter out the mappings that are entirely ignored #2179
Conversation
Summary of ChangesHello @ZewenShen-Cohere, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed! This pull request refines the Activation-aware Weight Quantization (AWQ) process by implementing a crucial filtering mechanism. It ensures that any AWQ mappings whose balance layers are entirely designated to be ignored are no longer included in the processing pipeline. This change directly addresses a previously identified concern, streamlining the quantization workflow and improving efficiency by avoiding operations on explicitly excluded components. Highlights

Code Review
This pull request adds a filtering mechanism to the AWQModifier to exclude mappings where all associated balance layers are present in the ignore list. This change provides finer-grained control over the AWQ process. The implementation is clear and directly addresses the goal. I have one suggestion to enhance the robustness of the code by handling cases where self.ignore might be None.
