NiceGUI website not working

I want to look a the documentation of NiceGUI, however the website keeps crashing and does not reload, on both mobile and wifi connection, and I also check with other people

Cannot recreate. Try using incognito to isolate any installed extensions on your browser.

I tried the following on the computer:

• edge browser, incognito on wifi network
  I tried the following on the phone:
• chrome browser on samsung galaxy s24, with nicegui as pwa
• duck duck go browser on galaxy s24, net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET
• samsung browser on galaxy s24, working for a short while, but it prompts all the time, "connection lost trying to reconnect", and after a while it crashed the webpage.

The main thing I am experiencing is that the website keeps crashing, it loads once and than it crashes on reload. So sometimes I can load one page, and if I want to navigate to another page it crashes again.

OK so net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET would indicate some issue with the network, to the point that NiceGUI cannot even establish the HTTP response to "get things started". It rules out much of the client-side JavaScript as suspects.

Meanwhile the fact that NiceGUI works on our browsers, the server is likely fine.

@evnchn nicegui.io runs on a few dozen servers around the world. While the one in your location might run just fine, there could be a problem with others. We're also noticing problems with the one in Frankfurt.

We saw a huge traffic spike in Europe a few hours ago and possibly at the same time a hickup in the fly.io infrastructure. Hopefully all is well again now.

@falkoschindler As a debug measure, do you (I think it should be left private to maintainers, otherwise it's a DDoS risk?) have the ability to access select servers?

What do you mean? We can ssh into individual instances. And with the right HTTP header, we can also force a http call onto a specific instance.

Consider some healthcheck which operates a headless browser, connects to the specific instance and hangs on to the connection for a while, which can help catch downtime and email you if something goes wrong.

SSH access could be useful but it increases server load if you run a headless browser on there, and doesn't catch HTTP-side network issues since you're accessing the localhost of each server.

Probably can't help since it's behind-the-scenes but still like to contribute my ideas which could help with reliability

Consider some healthcheck

Sure. fly.io already has a healthcheck system which should route traffic to nearby servers. But that did not work. And we have also gotten Slack messages about the outages -- but analysis and fixing took some time. Even if it not always looks that way: nicegui.io is just a side project for Zauberzeug 🙃

NiceGUI is working again, I am located in the Netherlands, so it can probably be correlated with the request spike observed
