We use a lot of Linux instances in the cloud for development. I love that I can just copy a binary and a directory of settings to set up my editing environment.

Just bumping back this - I want to donate too. Micro is so good, it deserves a lot more love.

I doubt any of micro maintainers wish to quit their jobs to live on donations.

You can donate by helping sorting out 800+ open issues, reviewing 100+ open PRs, possibly contributing your own PRs (especially for fixing the most important of the known issues).
