Duplication makes maintenance difficult. A difference in the
baseTypepredicate had already snuck in between these three queries.Note the copy-pasting is not exact, I have removed
privateand added qldoc comments as appropriate.(promised in #644, except that it turns out a shared library already existed it just didn't have everything in it)
