This test was broken by 710276a because DumpDataExtractor now accesses the Target properties, which someone ends up relying on the file system. This is an instance of this error https://lab.llvm.org/buildbot/#/builders/96/builds/45607/steps/6/logs/stdio I cannot reproduce this locally, but it seems that the error happens because we are not initializing the FileSystem and the Host as part of the test setup.
…lvm#65887)" This reverts commit 4898c33. Lots of buildbots are failing, probably because lots of targets not supporting large _BitInt types.
This warning needs to be disabled. The format string is deliberately too large.
In 014c41d I tried to fix these tests, but it seems that I needed to change TEST for TEST_F to make that work. It's a pain that these failures don't repro on any of my machines, but I verified thta the initialization code for the tests is invoked.

… and prevent devirtualization on types with native RTTI Discussion about this approach: https://discourse.llvm.org/t/rfc-safer-whole-program-class-hierarchy-analysis/65144/18 When enabling WPD in an environment where native binaries are present, types we want to optimize can be derived from inside these native files and devirtualizing them can lead to correctness issues. RTTI can be used as a way to determine all such types in native files and exclude them from WPD providing a safe checked way to enable WPD. The approach is: 1. In the linker, identify if RTTI is available for all native types. If not, under `--lto-validate-all-vtables-have-type-infos` `--lto-whole-program-visibility` is automatically disabled. This is done by examining all .symtab symbols in object files and .dynsym symbols in DSOs for vtable (_ZTV) and typeinfo (_ZTI) symbols and ensuring there's always a match for every vtable symbol. 2. During thinlink, if `--lto-validate-all-vtables-have-type-infos` is set and RTTI is available for all native types, identify all typename (_ZTS) symbols via their corresponding typeinfo (_ZTI) symbols that are used natively or outside of our summary and exclude them from WPD. Testing: ninja check-all large Meta service that uses boost, glog and libstdc++.so runs successfully with WPD via --lto-whole-program-visibility. Previously, native types in boost caused incorrect devirtualization that led to crashes. Reviewed By: MaskRay, tejohnson Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D155659
…llvm#65658) LDR_PXI is a load instruction, so it should be in isLoadFromStackSlot.
Android triples include a version number, which makes direct triple comparisons for per-target runtime directory searching not always work. Instead, look for the triple with the highest compatible version number and use that per-target runtime directory instead. This maintains the existing fallback to a triple without any version number, but I'm hoping we can remove that in the future. https://discourse.llvm.org/t/62717 discusses this further. The one remaining triple mismatch after this is that Android armv7 triples usually have an environment of `androideabi`, which Clang normalizes to `android`. If you use the `androideabi` triple when building the runtimes with a per-target runtimes dir, the directory will get created with `androideabi` in its name, but Clang's triple search uses the normalized triple and will look for an `android` directory instead. https://reviews.llvm.org/D140925 will fix that by normalizing triples when creating the per-target runtimes directories as well. If we have a gather load whose indices correspond to valid offsets for a gather with element type twice that our source, we can reduce the number of indices and perform the operation at the larger element type. This is generally profitable since we half VL - and these operations are linear in VL. This may require some additional VL/VTYPE toggles, but this appears to be worthwhile on the whole.
Added pass optimizes MLProgram global operations by reducing to only the minimal load/store operations for global tensors. This avoids unnecessary global operations throughout a program and potentially improves operation gusion. Reviewed By: jpienaar Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D159228

…vm#65654) Bufferization of tensor.reshape generates a memref.reshape operation. memref.reshape requires the source memref to have an identity layout. The bufferization process may result in the source memref having a non-identity layout, resulting in a verification failure. This change causes the bufferization interface for tensor.reshape to copy the source memref to a new buffer when the source has a non-identity layout.
Given a function like the following: https://godbolt.org/z/T9c99fr88 ```c 1161_noReadWrite(int *Preds) { for (int i = 0; i < LEN_1D-1; ++i) { if (Preds[i] != 0) b[i] = c[i] + 1; else a[i] = i * i; } } ``` LLVM will optimize the IR to a single store by a phi instruction: ```llvm %1 = load ptr, ptr @A, align 64 %2 = load ptr, ptr @b, align 64 ... for.inc: %.sink = phi ptr [ %1, %if.then ], [ %2, %if.else ] %add.sink = phi double [ %add, %if.then ], [ %conv8, %if.else ] %arrayidx7 = getelementptr inbounds double, ptr %.sink, i64 %indvars.iv store double %add.sink, ptr %arrayidx7, align 8 ``` LAA is currently unable to analyze such IR, since ScalarEvolution will return a SCEVUnknown for the forked pointer operand of the store. This patch adds initial optional support for analyzing both possibilities for the pointer and allowing LAA to generate runtime checks for the bounds if required, refers to D108699, but here address the phi node. Watchpoints in lldb can be either 'read', 'write', or 'read/write'. This is exposing the actual behavior of hardware watchpoints. gdb has a different behavior: a "write" type watchpoint only stops when the watched memory region *changes*. A user is using a watchpoint for one of three reasons: 1. Want to find what is changing/corrupting this memory. 2. Want to find what is writing to this memory. 3. Want to find what is reading from this memory. I believe (1) is the most common use case for watchpoints, and it currently can't be done in lldb -- the user needs to continue every time the same value is written to the watched-memory manually. I think gdb's behavior is the correct one. There are some use cases where a developer wants to find every function that writes/reads to/from a memory region, regardless of value, I want to still allow that functionality. This is also a bit of groundwork for my large watchpoint support proposal https://discourse.llvm.org/t/rfc-large-watchpoint-support-in-lldb/72116 where I will be adding support for AArch64 MASK watchpoints which watch power-of-2 memory regions. A user might ask to watch 24 bytes, and a MASK watchpoint stub can do this with a 32-byte MASK watchpoint if it is properly aligned. And we need to ignore writes to the final 8 bytes of that watched region, and not show those hits to the user. This patch adds a new 'modify' watchpoint type and it is the default. rdar://108234227

## Problem When the new setting ``` set target.parallel-module-load true ``` was added, lldb began fetching modules from the devices from multiple threads simultaneously. This caused crashes of lldb when debugging on android devices. The top of the stack in the crash look something like this: ``` #0 0x0000555aaf2b27fe llvm::sys::PrintStackTrace(llvm::raw_ostream&, int) (/opt/llvm/bin/lldb-dap+0xb87fe) #1 0x0000555aaf2b0a99 llvm::sys::RunSignalHandlers() (/opt/llvm/bin/lldb-dap+0xb6a99) #2 0x0000555aaf2b2fda SignalHandler(int, siginfo_t*, void*) (/opt/llvm/bin/lldb-dap+0xb8fda) #3 0x00007f9c02444560 __restore_rt /home/engshare/third-party2/glibc/2.34/src/glibc-2.34/signal/../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/libc_sigaction.c:13:0 llvm#4 0x00007f9c04ea7707 lldb_private::ConnectionFileDescriptor::Disconnect(lldb_private::Status*) (usr/bin/../lib/liblldb.so.15+0x22a7707) llvm#5 0x00007f9c04ea5b41 lldb_private::ConnectionFileDescriptor::~ConnectionFileDescriptor() (usr/bin/../lib/liblldb.so.15+0x22a5b41) llvm#6 0x00007f9c04ea5c1e lldb_private::ConnectionFileDescriptor::~ConnectionFileDescriptor() (usr/bin/../lib/liblldb.so.15+0x22a5c1e) llvm#7 0x00007f9c052916ff lldb_private::platform_android::AdbClient::SyncService::Stat(lldb_private::FileSpec const&, unsigned int&, unsigned int&, unsigned int&) (usr/bin/../lib/liblldb.so.15+0x26916ff) llvm#8 0x00007f9c0528b9dc lldb_private::platform_android::PlatformAndroid::GetFile(lldb_private::FileSpec const&, lldb_private::FileSpec const&) (usr/bin/../lib/liblldb.so.15+0x268b9dc) ``` Our workaround was to set `set target.parallel-module-load ` to `false` to avoid the crash. ## Background PlatformAndroid creates two different classes with one stateful adb connection shared between the two -- one through AdbClient and another through AdbClient::SyncService. The connection management and state is complex, and seems to be responsible for the segfault we are seeing. The AdbClient code resets these connections at times, and re-establishes connections if they are not active. Similarly, PlatformAndroid caches its SyncService, which uses an AdbClient class, but the SyncService puts its connection into a different 'sync' state that is incompatible with a standard connection. ## Changes in this diff * This diff refactors the code to (hopefully) have clearer ownership of the connection, clearer separation of AdbClient and SyncService by making a new class for clearer separations of concerns, called AdbSyncService. * New unit tests are added * Additional logs were added (see llvm#145382 (comment) for details)

A few improvements to logging when lldb-dap is started in **Server Mode** AND when the **`lldb-dap.logFolder`** setting is used (not `lldb-dap.log-path`). ### Improvement #1 **Avoid the prompt of restarting the server when starting each debug session.** That prompt is caused by the combination of the following facts: 1. The log filename changes every time a new debug session is starting (see [here](https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/9d6062c490548a5e6fea103e010ab3c9bc73a86d/lldb/tools/lldb-dap/src-ts/logging.ts#L47)) 2. The log filename is passed to the server via an environment variable called "LLDBDAP_LOG" (see [here](https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/9d6062c490548a5e6fea103e010ab3c9bc73a86d/lldb/tools/lldb-dap/src-ts/debug-adapter-factory.ts#L263-L269)) 3. All environment variables are put into the "spawn info" variable (see [here](https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/9d6062c490548a5e6fea103e010ab3c9bc73a86d/lldb/tools/lldb-dap/src-ts/lldb-dap-server.ts#L170-L172)). 4. The old and new "spawn info" are compared to decide if a prompt should show (see [here](https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/9d6062c490548a5e6fea103e010ab3c9bc73a86d/lldb/tools/lldb-dap/src-ts/lldb-dap-server.ts#L107-L110)). The fix is to remove the "LLDBDAP_LOG" from the "spawn info" variable, so that the same server can be reused if the log path is the only thing that has changed. ### Improvement #2 **Avoid log file conflict when multiple users share a machine and start server in the same second.** The problem: If two users start lldb-dap server in the same second, they will share the same log path. The first user will create the log file. The second user will find that they cannot access the same file, so their server will fail to start. The fix is to add a part of the VS Code session ID to the log filename. ### Improvement #3 **Avoid restarting the server when the order of environment variables changed.** This is done by sorting the environment variables before putting them into the "spawn info".

A recent change adding a new sanitizer kind (via Sanitizers.def) was reverted in c74fa20 ("Revert "[Clang][CodeGen] Introduce the AllocToken SanitizerKind" (llvm#162413)"). clang::ASTReader::ReadString(llvm::SmallVectorImpl<unsigned long> const&, unsigned int&) ``` The reason is this particular RUN line: ``` // RUN: env CC_PRINT_HEADERS_FORMAT=json CC_PRINT_HEADERS_FILTERING=direct-per-file CC_PRINT_HEADERS_FILE=%t.txt %clang -fsyntax-only -I %S/Inputs/print-header-json -isystem %S/Inputs/print-header-json/system -fmodules -fimplicit-module-maps -fmodules-cache-path=%t %s -o /dev/null ``` which was added in 8df194f ("[Clang] Support includes translated to module imports in -header-include-filtering=direct-per-file (llvm#156756)"). The problem is caused by an incremental build reusing stale cached module files (.pcm) that are no longer binary-compatible with the updated compiler. Adding a new sanitizer option altered the implicit binary layout of the serialized LangOptions data structure. The build + test system is oblivious to such changes. When the new compiler attempted to read the old module file (from the previous test invocation), it misinterpreted the data due to the layout mismatch, resulting in a heap-buffer-overflow. Unfortunately Clang's PCM format does not encode nor detect version mismatches here; a more graceful failure mode would be preferable. For now, fix the test to be more robust with incremental build + test.

**Mitigation for:** google/sanitizers#749 **Disclosure:** I'm not an ASan compiler expert yet (I'm trying to learn!), I primarily work in the runtime. Some of this PR was developed with the help of AI tools (primarily as a "fuzzy `grep` engine"), but I've manually refined and tested the output, and can speak for every line. In general, I used it only to orient myself and for "rubberducking". **Context:** The msvc ASan team (👋 ) has received an internal request to improve clang's exception handling under ASan for Windows. Namely, we're interested in **mitigating** this bug: google/sanitizers#749 To summarize, today, clang + ASan produces a false-positive error for this program: ```C++ #include <cstdio> #include <exception> int main() { try { throw std::exception("test"); }catch (const std::exception& ex){ puts(ex.what()); } return 0; } ``` The error reads as such: ``` C:\Users\dajusto\source\repros\upstream>type main.cpp #include <cstdio> #include <exception> int main() { try { throw std::exception("test"); }catch (const std::exception& ex){ puts(ex.what()); } return 0; } C:\Users\dajusto\source\repros\upstream>"C:\Users\dajusto\source\repos\llvm-project\build.runtimes\bin\clang.exe" -fsanitize=address -g -O0 main.cpp C:\Users\dajusto\source\repros\upstream>a.exe ================================================================= ==19112==ERROR: AddressSanitizer: access-violation on unknown address 0x000000000000 (pc 0x7ff72c7c11d9 bp 0x0080000ff960 sp 0x0080000fcf50 T0) ==19112==The signal is caused by a READ memory access. ==19112==Hint: address points to the zero page. #0 0x7ff72c7c11d8 in main C:\Users\dajusto\source\repros\upstream\main.cpp:8 #1 0x7ff72c7d479f in _CallSettingFrame C:\repos\msvc\src\vctools\crt\vcruntime\src\eh\amd64\handlers.asm:49 #2 0x7ff72c7c8944 in __FrameHandler3::CxxCallCatchBlock(struct _EXCEPTION_RECORD *) C:\repos\msvc\src\vctools\crt\vcruntime\src\eh\frame.cpp:1567 #3 0x7ffb4a90e3e5 (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll+0x18012e3e5) llvm#4 0x7ff72c7c1128 in main C:\Users\dajusto\source\repros\upstream\main.cpp:6 llvm#5 0x7ff72c7c33db in invoke_main C:\repos\msvc\src\vctools\crt\vcstartup\src\startup\exe_common.inl:78 llvm#6 0x7ff72c7c33db in __scrt_common_main_seh C:\repos\msvc\src\vctools\crt\vcstartup\src\startup\exe_common.inl:288 llvm#7 0x7ffb49b05c06 (C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNEL32.DLL+0x180035c06) llvm#8 0x7ffb4a8455ef (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll+0x1800655ef) ==19112==Register values: rax = 0 rbx = 80000ff8e0 rcx = 27d76d00000 rdx = 80000ff8e0 rdi = 80000fdd50 rsi = 80000ff6a0 rbp = 80000ff960 rsp = 80000fcf50 r8 = 100 r9 = 19930520 r10 = 8000503a90 r11 = 80000fd540 r12 = 80000fd020 r13 = 0 r14 = 80000fdeb8 r15 = 0 AddressSanitizer can not provide additional info. SUMMARY: AddressSanitizer: access-violation C:\Users\dajusto\source\repros\upstream\main.cpp:8 in main ==19112==ABORTING ``` The root of the issue _appears to be_ that ASan's instrumentation is incompatible with Window's assumptions for instantiating `catch`-block's parameters (`ex` in the snippet above). The nitty gritty details are lost on me, but I understand that to make this work without loss of ASan coverage, a "serious" refactoring is needed. In the meantime, users risk false positive errors when pairing ASan + catch-block parameters on Windows. **To mitigate this** I think we should avoid instrumenting catch-block parameters on Windows. It appears to me this is as "simple" as marking catch block parameters as "uninteresting" in `AddressSanitizer::isInterestingAlloca`. My manual tests seem to confirm this. I believe this is strictly better than today's status quo, where the runtime generates false positives. Although we're now explicitly choosing to instrument less, the benefit is that now more programs can run with ASan without _funky_ macros that disable ASan on exception blocks. **This PR:** implements the mitigation above, and creates a simple new test for it. _Thanks!_ --------- Co-authored-by: Antonio Frighetto <me@antoniofrighetto.com>

…am (llvm#167724) This got exposed by `09262656f32ab3f2e1d82e5342ba37eecac52522`. The underlying stream of `m_os` is referenced by the `TextDiagnostic` member of `TextDiagnosticPrinter`. It got turned into a `llvm::formatted_raw_ostream` in the commit above. When `~TextDiagnosticPrinter` (and thus `~TextDiagnostic`) is invoked, we now call `~formatted_raw_ostream`, which tries to access the underlying stream. But `m_os` was already deleted because it is earlier in the order of destruction in `TextDiagnosticPrinter`. Move the `m_os` member before the `TextDiagnosticPrinter` to avoid a use-after-free. Drive-by: * Also move the `m_output` member which the `m_os` holds a reference to. The fact it's a reference indicates the expectation is most likely that the string outlives the stream. …lvm#159480) When building rustc std for arm64e, core fails to compile successfully with the error: ``` Constant ValueID not recognized. UNREACHABLE executed at rust/src/llvm-project/llvm/lib/Transforms/Utils/FunctionComparator.cpp:523! ``` This is a result of function merging so I modified FunctionComparator.cpp as the ConstantPtrAuth value would go unchecked in the switch statement. The test case is a reduction from the failure in core and fails on main with: ``` ******************** FAIL: LLVM :: Transforms/MergeFunc/ptrauth-const-compare.ll (59809 of 59995) ******************** TEST 'LLVM :: Transforms/MergeFunc/ptrauth-const-compare.ll' FAILED ******************** Exit Code: 2 Command Output (stdout): -- # RUN: at line 3 /Users/oskarwirga/llvm-project/build/bin/opt -S -passes=mergefunc < /Users/oskarwirga/llvm-project/llvm/test/Transforms/MergeFunc/ptrauth-const-compare.ll | /Users/oskarwirga/llvm-project/build/bin/FileCheck /Users/oskarwirga/llvm-project/llvm/test/Transforms/MergeFunc/ptrauth-const-compare.ll # executed command: /Users/oskarwirga/llvm-project/build/bin/opt -S -passes=mergefunc # .---command stderr------------ # | Constant ValueID not recognized. # | UNREACHABLE executed at /Users/oskarwirga/llvm-project/llvm/lib/Transforms/Utils/FunctionComparator.cpp:523! # | PLEASE submit a bug report to https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/ and include the crash backtrace and instructions to reproduce the bug. # | Stack dump: # | 0. CHR builds the merged hot-path predicate with IRBuilder::CreateLogicalAnd. That helper is implemented as a select and can constant-fold to a non- Instruction (e.g. i1 true). The pass then attempted to mark the merged condition as having explicitly unknown branch weights when profile data is present, but it unconditionally did cast<Instruction>(MergedCondition), which can crash in release builds. Guard the metadata update with dyn_cast<Instruction> and pass the containing Function explicitly to avoid calling Instruction::getFunction when the value is not attached yet. Add a regression test that exercises the constant-folding case. Crashing stack: ``` 2. … all redeclarations (llvm#176188) Fix handling of `lifetimebound` attributes on implicit `this` parameters across function redeclarations. Previously, the lifetime analysis would miss `lifetimebound` attributes on implicit `this` parameters if they were only present on certain redeclarations of a method. This could lead to false negatives in the lifetime safety analysis. This change ensures that if any redeclaration of a method has the attribute, it will be properly detected and used in the analysis. I can't seem to work around the crash in the earlier attempt llvm#172146. Reproducer of the original crash: ```cpp struct a { a &b() [[_Clang::__lifetimebound__]]; }; a &a::b() {} ``` This only crashes with `-target i686-w64-mingw32`. `bin/clang++ -c a.cpp` works fine. Problematic merging logic: ```cpp // If Old has lifetimebound but New doesn't, add it to New. if (OldLBAttr && !NewLBAttr) { QualType NewMethodType = New->getType(); QualType AttributedType = S.Context.getAttributedType(OldLBAttr, NewMethodType, NewMethodType); TypeLocBuilder TLB; TLB.pushFullCopy(NewTSI->getTypeLoc()); AttributedTypeLoc TyLoc = TLB.push<AttributedTypeLoc>(AttributedType); // Crashes. TyLoc.setAttr(OldLBAttr); New->setType(AttributedType); New->setTypeSourceInfo(TLB.getTypeSourceInfo(S.Context, AttributedType)); } ``` <details> <summary>Crash</summary> ``` clang++: /REDACTED//llvm-project/clang/lib/Sema/TypeLocBuilder.cpp:89: TypeLoc clang::TypeLocBuilder::pushImpl(QualType, size_t, unsigned int): Assertion `TLast == LastTy && "mismatch between last type and new type's inner type"' failed. PLEASE submit a bug report to https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/ and include the crash backtrace, preprocessed source, and associated run script. Stack dump: 0. …lvm#178069) Kernel panic is a special case, and there is no signal or exception for that so we need to rely on special workaround called `dumptid`. …8306) In FreeBSD, allproc is a prepend list and new processes are appended at head. I created an issue about this in llvm#179976. Clang's Address Sanitizer installs its own SEH filter which handles some types of uncaught exceptions. Along with register values and some other information, it also generates a stack trace. However, current logic is incomplete. It relies on DbgHelp's SymFunctionTableAccess64 and SymGetModuleBase64 which won't work with machine code that has its RUNTIME_FUNCTION entry registered with Rtl* (e.g. RtlAddFunctionTable) system calls. Most likely, this is because DbgHelp either relies on information in PDB files or considers PDATA and XDATA only from loaded EXE and DLL modules. Either way, consider the following example: ``` #include <windows.h> #include <iostream> #include <vector> typedef union _UNWIND_CODE { struct { BYTE CodeOffset; BYTE UnwindOp : 4; BYTE OpInfo : 4; }; USHORT FrameOffset; } UNWIND_CODE, * PUNWIND_CODE; typedef struct _UNWIND_INFO { BYTE Version : 3; BYTE Flags : 5; BYTE SizeOfProlog; BYTE CountOfCodes; BYTE FrameRegister : 4; BYTE FrameOffset : 4; UNWIND_CODE UnwindCode[1]; // Variable size } UNWIND_INFO, * PUNWIND_INFO; #define UWOP_PUSH_NONVOL 0 #define UWOP_ALLOC_LARGE 1 #define UWOP_ALLOC_SMALL 2 #define UWOP_SET_FPREG 3 #define UWOP_SAVE_NONVOL 4 #define UWOP_SAVE_NONVOL_FAR 5 #define UWOP_SAVE_XMM128 8 #define UWOP_SAVE_XMM128_FAR 9 #define UWOP_PUSH_MACHFRAME 10 int main() { // PUSH RBX (0x53) - Save non-volatile register // SUB RSP, 0x20 (0x48 0x83 0xEC 0x20) - Allocate 32 bytes (shadow space) // XOR RAX, RAX (0x48 0x31 0xC0) - Zero out RAX // MOV RAX, [RAX] (0x48 0x8B 0x00) - Dereference NULL std::vector<unsigned char> code = { 0x53, 0x48, 0x83, 0xEC, 0x20, 0x48, 0x31, 0xC0, 0x48, 0x8B, 0x00 }; size_t codeSize = code.size(); size_t totalSize = 100; LPVOID pMemory = VirtualAlloc(NULL, totalSize, MEM_COMMIT | MEM_RESERVE, PAGE_EXECUTE_READWRITE); BYTE* pCodeBase = (BYTE*)pMemory; PUNWIND_INFO pUnwindInfo = (PUNWIND_INFO)(pCodeBase + codeSize); size_t alignmentPadding = 0; if ((size_t)pUnwindInfo % 4 != 0) { alignmentPadding = 4 - ((size_t)pUnwindInfo % 4); pUnwindInfo = (PUNWIND_INFO)((BYTE*)pUnwindInfo + alignmentPadding); } memcpy(pCodeBase, code.data(), codeSize); pUnwindInfo->Version = 1; pUnwindInfo->Flags = UNW_FLAG_NHANDLER; pUnwindInfo->Flags = 0; pUnwindInfo->SizeOfProlog = 5; pUnwindInfo->CountOfCodes = 2; pUnwindInfo->FrameRegister = 0; pUnwindInfo->FrameOffset = 0; pUnwindInfo->UnwindCode[0].CodeOffset = 5; pUnwindInfo->UnwindCode[0].UnwindOp = UWOP_ALLOC_SMALL; pUnwindInfo->UnwindCode[0].OpInfo = 3; pUnwindInfo->UnwindCode[1].CodeOffset = 1; pUnwindInfo->UnwindCode[1].UnwindOp = UWOP_PUSH_NONVOL; pUnwindInfo->UnwindCode[1].OpInfo = 3; // RBX RUNTIME_FUNCTION tableEntry = {}; tableEntry.BeginAddress = 0; tableEntry.EndAddress = (DWORD)codeSize; tableEntry.UnwindData = (DWORD)((BYTE*)pUnwindInfo - (BYTE*)pMemory); DWORD64 baseAddress = (DWORD64)pMemory; RtlAddFunctionTable(&tableEntry, 1, baseAddress); typedef void(*FuncType)(); FuncType myFunc = (FuncType)pMemory; myFunc(); return 0; } ``` Windows' kernel can propagate hardware exception through that function, so clearly these entries are at least partially correct. Right now, ASan's stack walking produces this (compiled with latest release, clang++): ``` PS D:\Local Projects\cpp-playground> ./a.exe ================================================================= ==14216==ERROR: AddressSanitizer: access-violation on unknown address 0x000000000000 (pc 0x0199561c0008 bp 0x004cf0cffb30 sp 0x004cf0cff970 T0) ==14216==The signal is caused by a READ memory access. ==14216==Hint: address points to the zero page. #0 0x0199561c0007 (<unknown module>) #1 0x000000000000 (<unknown module>) #2 0x000000000000 (<unknown module>) ==14216==Register values: rax = 0 rbx = 4cf0cffaa0 rcx = 7ffcb97b4e28 rdx = 19955dc0000 rdi = 11bf564a0040 rsi = 0 rbp = 4cf0cffb30 rsp = 4cf0cff970 r8 = 7ffffffffffffffc r9 = 1 r10 = 0 r11 = 246 r12 = 0 r13 = 0 r14 = 0 r15 = 0 AddressSanitizer can not provide additional info. SUMMARY: AddressSanitizer: access-violation (<unknown module>) ==13660==ABORTING ``` Now we see that stack walking handled our dynamic function properly. Interestingly enough, it appears that other overloaded version of UnwindSlow procedure that works without CONTEXT structure already has some logic to handle this. Theoretically, symbolizer should also be able to provide some information about these functions, but I don't think that this is necessary. I added SANITIZER_WINDOWS64 check because I am pretty sure Microsoft only mentions these functions for 64 bit version of their OS. I also can't check how this works on ARM.

Using code/ideas from the x86 backend to optimize a select on a bitcast integer. The previous aarch64 approach was to individually extract the bits from the mask, which is kind of terrible. https://rust.godbolt.org/z/576sndT66 ```llvm define void @if_then_else8(ptr %out, i8 %mask, ptr %if_true, ptr %if_false) { start: %t = load <8 x i32>, ptr %if_true, align 4 %f = load <8 x i32>, ptr %if_false, align 4 %m = bitcast i8 %mask to <8 x i1> %s = select <8 x i1> %m, <8 x i32> %t, <8 x i32> %f store <8 x i32> %s, ptr %out, align 4 ret void } ``` turned into ```asm if_then_else8: // @if_then_else8 sub sp, sp, llvm#16 ubfx w8, w1, llvm#4, #1 and w11, w1, #0x1 ubfx w9, w1, llvm#5, #1 fmov s1, w11 ubfx w10, w1, #1, #1 fmov s0, w8 ubfx w8, w1, llvm#6, #1 ldp q5, q2, [x3] mov v1.h[1], w10 ldp q4, q3, [x2] mov v0.h[1], w9 ubfx w9, w1, #2, #1 mov v1.h[2], w9 ubfx w9, w1, #3, #1 mov v0.h[2], w8 ubfx w8, w1, llvm#7, #1 mov v1.h[3], w9 mov v0.h[3], w8 ushll v1.4s, v1.4h, #0 ushll v0.4s, v0.4h, #0 shl v1.4s, v1.4s, llvm#31 shl v0.4s, v0.4s, llvm#31 cmlt v1.4s, v1.4s, #0 cmlt v0.4s, v0.4s, #0 bsl v1.16b, v4.16b, v5.16b bsl v0.16b, v3.16b, v2.16b stp q1, q0, [x0] add sp, sp, llvm#16 ret ``` With this PR that instead emits ```asm if_then_else8: adrp x8, .LCPI0_1 dup v0.4s, w1 ldr q1, [x8, :lo12:.LCPI0_1] adrp x8, .LCPI0_0 ldr q2, [x8, :lo12:.LCPI0_0] ldp q4, q3, [x2] and v1.16b, v0.16b, v1.16b and v0.16b, v0.16b, v2.16b ldp q5, q2, [x3] cmeq v1.4s, v1.4s, #0 cmeq v0.4s, v0.4s, #0 bsl v1.16b, v2.16b, v3.16b bsl v0.16b, v5.16b, v4.16b stp q0, q1, [x0] ret ``` So substantially shorter. Instead of building the mask element-by-element, this approach (by virtue of not splitting) instead splats the mask value into all vector lanes, performs a bitwise and with powers of 2, and compares with zero to construct the mask vector. cc rust-lang/rust#122376 cc llvm#175769

…e edge case (llvm#188590) llvm#186966 was reverted because the test case triggered a use-of-uninitialized-memory (https://lab.llvm.org/buildbot/#/builders/94/builds/16379), due to the include directive omitting a trailing newline. This patch adds a minor fix to avoid the use-of-uninitialized-memory, and deliberately re-adds the test case sans trailing newline for regression testing. llvm#183506 revealed a pre-existing use-after-scope in createInstrInfo (MSan bot: https://lab.llvm.org/buildbot/#/builders/164/builds/21562 [*]). This patch fixes the issue by changing the stack-allocated AArch64Subtarget (which goes out of scope once createInstrInfo() returns) into heap-allocated, allowing it to be safely stored in the returned AArch64InstrInfo. ----- [*] WARNING: MemorySanitizer: use-of-uninitialized-value #0 0x55555666fabd in llvm::AArch64InstrInfo::getInstSizeInBytes(llvm::MachineInstr const&) const /home/b/sanitizer-x86_64-linux-bootstrap-msan/build/llvm-project/llvm/lib/Target/AArch64/AArch64InstrInfo.cpp:247:5 ... /home/b/sanitizer-x86_64-linux-bootstrap-msan/build/llvm-project/llvm/unittests/Target/AArch64/InstSizes.cpp:85:3 llvm#9 0x555556508559 in InstSizes_MOVaddrTagged_Test::TestBody() /home/b/sanitizer-x86_64-linux-bootstrap-msan/build/llvm-project/llvm/unittests/Target/AArch64/InstSizes.cpp:301:3 ... …vm#217659) Added in llvm#216840 / b0e9c53. This is failing on our downstream Arm 32-bit Linux bot: ``` * thread #1, name = 'a.out', stop reason = breakpoint 1.1 * frame #0: 0x013d0630 a.out`compute(a=<unavailable>, b=<unavailable>) at main.c:3:10 [synthetic] frame #1: 0x013d065c a.out`main at main.c:6:25 frame #2: 0xea2b739a libc.so.6` frame #3: 0xea2b743e libc.so.6`__libc_start_main + 94 frame llvm#4: 0x013d0538 a.out`_start + 40 Expecting sub string: "compute(a=3, b=4)" (was not found) ``` I have not had time to reproduce it locally, but I did notice that the test packs a struct of registers using `Q` (8 bytes) regardless of register size. https://docs.python.org/3/library/struct.html#format-characters Which probably works because most targets have 64-bit GPRs and any non-64-bit registers don't take part in debug info lookups. By using the actual register sizes we can fix the test on 32-bit. I've tested this on x86_64, AArch64 and Arm-32-bit Linux.

`target.process.memory-cache-line-size` is an unbounded `UInt64`, so
`settings set` accepts 0, and `MemoryCache` keeps the value in a
`uint32_t`, so it also accepts any multiple of 2^32, which truncates to
0. Every consumer then takes a remainder by 0.
`Process::ReadCStringFromMemory` divides on the first iteration of its
loop, before it touches inferior memory, so any address reproduces it.
On an x86_64 host that is a `SIGFPE` and lldb dies; on AArch64 `udiv` by
zero yields 0, so `addr % 0` evaluates to `addr` and the subtraction
underflows to a huge chunk size, and the bug hides.
```
$ lldb -b \
-o 'settings set target.process.memory-cache-line-size 0' \
-o 'target create --core linux-x86_64.core'
Floating point exception: 8
```
Under UBSan on any host, with
`lldb/test/API/tools/lldb-dap/coreFile/linux-x86_64.core`:
```
lldb/source/Target/Process.cpp:2388:40: runtime error: division by zero
#0 lldb_private::Process::ReadCStringFromMemory
#2 ProcessElfCore::GetMainExecutableModuleSpec
#3 ProcessElfCore::DoLoadCore
llvm#4 lldb_private::Process::LoadCore
```
The truncating case crashes the same way while `settings show` reports a
value that is not 0, so nothing in the UI hints at the cause:
```
(lldb) settings set target.process.memory-cache-line-size 4294967296
(lldb) settings show target.process.memory-cache-line-size
target.process.memory-cache-line-size (unsigned) = 4294967296
```
The cache uses 0. 4294967297 truncates to 1, so the cache uses a
one-byte line.
Bound the property once instead of at each use, from 1 to `UINT32_MAX`,
the way `Debugger` bounds `term-width` and `term-height`. Rejecting
beats clamping, because `settings show` reads the stored value back and
would otherwise report a number the cache does not use:
```
(lldb) settings set target.process.memory-cache-line-size 4294967296
error: 4294967296 is out of range, valid values must be between 1 and 4294967295.
```
`OptionValueProperties::CreateLocalCopy` deep-copies the option values,
so the bounds also apply to each process's own collection, not just the
global one.

* CompilerInstance is defaut constructed, which means it has a default
constructed CompilerInvocation.
* CompilerInstance::createDiagnostics is called.
* It makes a clang::DiagnosticsEngine and gives it a reference to
whatever getDiagnosticOpts() returns.
* That returns invocation->getDiagnosticOpts().
* CompilerInstance::setInvocation is called with a new invocation,
replacing the original invocation.
* The clang::DiagnosticsEngine now has a dangling reference to the
options in the original invocation.
To fix this, I have implemented the same thing that
b69dcb8 did for Clang.
Pass the invocation to the CompilerInstance constructor, and remove the
setInvocation method. So that you cannot mix up the order.

Additionally, this patch does a similar drive-by fix to the SuggestAnnotations field (added in llvm#205764). Although there has been no MSan report, that's likely either an MSan false negative or insufficient test coverage.

`target create` never returns for a little-endian 32-bit MIPS ELF file, on any host whose platform advertises `armv7m`/`armv7em` compatibility. On Darwin that is every platform, since `PlatformDarwin::GetCompatibleArchs()` lists both for every arm64/arm64e host and falls through to that same list for any other host core. It is found by `lldb-target-fuzzer`. Reproduce with a 52-byte ELF32 header (`ELFCLASS32`, `ELFDATA2LSB`, `e_machine = EM_MIPS`, `e_flags = EF_MIPS_ARCH_32`, everything else zero), saved as `mips32el.elf`: ``` (lldb) target create mips32el.elf ``` This never returns. Attaching a debugger to the hung process shows the same three frames looping forever, with the call stack never growing: ``` frame #1: cores_match(core1=eCore_arm_armv7m, core2=eCore_mips32el, try_inverse=false, ...) at ArchSpec.cpp:1575 [inlined] frame #2: ArchSpec::IsMatch(rhs=..., match=CompatibleMatch) at ArchSpec.cpp:1449 frame #3: Platform::IsCompatibleArchitecture(...) at Platform.cpp:1193 ``` `cores_match()` checks `core1` against `core2`. When nothing matches and the caller did not ask for an exact match, it sets `try_inverse` and retries once with the two cores swapped. It retries because the rule tables are not symmetric: a core lists only what it accepts, not everything that accepts it. Every case that reaches this fallback must leave `try_inverse` false on the way out, so the swap happens at most once. Three cases, `eCore_arm_armv7em`, `eCore_arm_armv7m`, and `eCore_mips32el`, instead set it back to true unconditionally. When both sides of a comparison are one of these three, the swapped call re-arms `try_inverse`, and the tail call back into `cores_match()` recurses forever. This is a tail call, so an optimizing compiler turns the recursion into a loop instead of a growing stack. That is why the process spins instead of crashing with a stack overflow. The three cases cannot simply leave `try_inverse` false like their siblings. `ArchSpec("mipsel").IsCompatibleMatch(ArchSpec("mips64el"))` is true today only because of this same swap: `eCore_mips32el`'s own rule says nothing about 64-bit MIPS, but `eCore_mips64el`'s rule accepts any 32-bit MIPS core with the same endianness, and only the inverted comparison reaches that rule. Instead, split the switch into a one-directional helper that never recurses, and try both directions from a plain, non-recursive wrapper: ``` cores_match(A, B) := cores_match_one_direction(A, B) || cores_match_one_direction(B, A) ``` This keeps every existing one-directional rule exactly as it was, including the mips32el/mips64el rule above, and makes a second retry impossible no matter what any case does. Adds two regression tests to ArchSpecTest.cpp. One asserts that the previously-hanging pairs now return false right away. The other locks in the two relationships that depend on checking both directions, so a future change cannot bring the recursion back by "fixing" the three cases the naive way. Assisted-by: claude
